BikeSafe event a success
Nearly 100 people attended a BikeSafe event held by Hertfordshire Constabulary recently, where they picked up valuable advice about riding a motorcycle safely.
The event, which took place at the force's headquarters on July 16th, gave bikers the opportunity to go on a 75-minute ride with an officer from the road-policing unit, during which they were assessed and offered advice about how they could improve their riding.
Over 60 bikers chose to go on the accompanied ride and BikeSafe coordinator Keith Tilley declared the results to be hugely promising, with plenty of positive feedback from the bikers who took part.

He commented: "This year we are running three BikeSafe events across the county rather than the one event that we usually hold.
"These events are a valuable tool in assessing motorcyclists on their abilities. The assessed rides are completely free and could save you from being involved in a collision."
Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire Advanced Motorcyclists (HBAM) chairman Alan Laws concurred, saying it was "a fantastic day" for all involved and would prove a major aid in their efforts to reduce the number of road collisions.
HBAM also put on a slow riding track for bikers to practice on, while Hertfordshire Road Safety Unit, Highways Agency traffic officers and the Institute of Advanced Motorcyclists all put on stalls for those in attendance to visit.
