Foggy reconfirms MotoGP ambitions

World Superbikes (WSB) team boss Carl Foggarty has yet again stated his desire to make the switch to MotoGP at the end of the season.

Four-time former champion Fogarty this weekend saw his Foggy Petronas racers yet again fail to get in amongst the points at Brands Hatch, with Craig Jones twice failing to finish and Steve Martin twice missing out on the podium.

Fogarty claimed ahead of the weekend's racing that there are a number of possibilities available to him and his team once the deal with Petronas expires at the end of this season and once again mooted a move to MotoGP as a distinct possibility.

He told BBC News: "I own the infrastructure for the team and getting bikes won't be a problem, so all we need is the sponsorship deal and we can go racing next year.

"There are a lot of options and discussions are going on at the moment and I'm optimistic something might happen within the next couple of months."

Reflecting on the WSB season so far, the 40-year-old admitted that watching his riders struggle had been a "frustration", but said that he hoped the whole team would continue to do its best throughout the remaining races.

He also said that he would happily have Ten Kate Honda rider James Toseland - currently third in the WSB championship standings - on his team in the future, declaring that "he's an aggressive rider and if he wanted a MotoGP ride, I would give him one".
