BMF hits out at illegal mini-moto riders
The British Motorcyclists Federation (BMF) has said that people who ride mini-bikes on public property are irresponsible and are giving the entire biking community a bad name.
According to the BMF, mini-bikes of this sort were not designed for road use and people who ride them anywhere other than on specially designed tracks or on private property where they have permission to do so have abused their use.
It is worried that the law-abiding majority of motorcyclists will suffer as a result of becoming associated in the public mind with these mini-moto riders and claimed that the government's campaign against them is simply not working.

BMF government relations executive Richard Olliffe commented: "With an estimated 400,000 mini-motorcycles sold in the past six years, the situation is out of control.
"A ban on import and sales now would indeed be shutting the stable door after the mini-moto had left, but it may be the only way forward in controlling an escalating situation."
The BMF is considerably irritated as it has stated in the past that many mini-bikes imported into the UK are not safe for use, only for the government and motorcycle industry to repeatedly ignore its suggestions that they should be banned.
It is also equally critical of efforts to now clamp down on mini-moto use, claiming this will divert vital resources away from the far more important matter of road policing.
