Young riders taught valuable lesson
A special event has been put on in Essex to provide young moped riders with some valuable biking tips to help them keep safe on the road.
Hosted by Hockley's neighbourhood police team in conjunction with Rochford District Council's antisocial behaviour team, this educational presentation gave the 20 young riders present warning of the dangers they could face while on their mopeds.
Hosted at Clements Hall in Hawkwell, those in attendance benefited from the wisdom of a number of speakers, such as Dan Carlin from Essex County Council, local police motorcyclist Steve Holgate and Essex Advanced Motorcycle Group's Chris Reed.

The programme's organiser PC Steve Joynes commented: "We invited 20 local riders to raise awareness of road dangers and hope to reduce road collision casualties.
"I am very grateful to all the speakers, young people and motorcyclists that made the event a success."
To fully drive home the dangers of antisocial moped use, one bike accident victim spoke of the crash that left him paralysed, while a mother who lost her son in a motorcycle crash also spoke of the pain of her loss.
The young bikers present also were given a chance to try their hand at a specially set up obstacle course and compete for a pair of motorcycle gloves that were kindly donated for the event.
