BMW bike named Britain's best
BMW has cleaned up in this year's RiDE magazine poll, with its Motorrad R1200 RT being named by readers as the best bike available in the UK.
As part of this annual survey, readers were required to select and rate the nation's favourite bikes based on criteria such as build quality, performance, comfort and dependability.
The R1200 RT was given a final score of 85.14 per cent overall, which was enough for it to beat the 149 other bikes in the running and take the coveted top spot.
Readers' responses to the bike were almost unanimous in their approval, with one stating: "Overall this is a brilliant bike - I haven't had so much fun in ages."

Another claimed: "I've had no faults, build quality or reliability issues. I'm extremely impressed with my BMW."
The RT had already been named the best tourer bike by Motorcycle News back in 2005 and its latest victory makes it the fourth BMW to win RiDE's award in the space of eight years.
Nor was it the only BMW to make the grade this time around, with the K1200 S coming fifth with just over 82 per cent, while the R1100 GS Adventure and K1200 RS came seventh and ninth respectively.
A further 11 BMWs also featured in the countdown, while the manufacturer's R1200 GS came second in a list of the bikes that motorcyclists would most like to own if money was of no object.
