Motorbike auction site starts up in US

A new motorbike auction website has been launched in the US, which its operators claim is a result of bikers tiring of extortionate prices charged elsewhere on the net.

According to Scott Davis, joint founder of new auction website www.motoyard.com, he and a friend started the site in reaction to complaints that it is too costly to buy and sell motorcycles and biking paraphernalia on eBay.

He claims that the auction portal has already built up a wide portfolio of purchasable products and has a highly efficient search engine that makes it easy as well as inexpensive for customers to find what they want.

Mr Davis explained: "Lower prices attract our sellers and ease of use and successful sales bring them back again and again.

"Buyers are coming to the site because they can easily search the site and there is such a wide variety of items available, they can easily find what they are looking for."

He added that another advantage of the site is the precision that it offers, claiming by way of example that by typing 'tyres' into its search engine, a buyer would get only tyres for motorcycles and not for other vehicles, as they would with a less specialist portal.

In addition, sellers who decide to trade over www.motoyard.com will also be given $20 credit so as to cover any inhibiting start-up costs.
