Hayden picks himself up after Portugal debacle
Nicky Hayden has admitted to feeling "hurt" by his disastrous collision with team mate Dani Pedrosa in the Portuguese GP, but he is vowing to fight on to the last.
The American was going well in third during last weekend's race when Pedrosa inexplicably appeared to try to overtake him but make a hash of it, ploughing into the back of his bike and forcing the both of them out of the race.
Hayden's withdrawal has handed the lead in the MotoGP title race to Valentino Rossi with just one race to go, but although Hayden was staggered by his moment of misfortune, he has promised that he will not be content to simply give up on the championship.

He stated: "I've proved this weekend that I wasn't going to give up without a fight and even now I believe I'm pretty strong.
"This was not one of my best tracks and I've come here and gone quick - I was fastest in one session, got on the front row and had a good race pace."
Pedrosa was unsurprisingly full of his apologies over his error, claiming that he had not actually been trying to accelerate past his team mate and pointing out that he had never crashed into another rider before in his fledgling racing career.
Hayden appeared incensed after the collision but he and Pedrosa have since shaken hands and made up and he knows that he will be relying on the young Spaniard to keep Rossi out when they meet in the season's finale in Valencia just over a week from now.
