Biker campaigns for off-road riding space
A young biker has called for the authorities to set aside designated space for off-road riders to use instead of just persecuting them.
Nigel Hinnells from Idle in Yorkshire has launched a petition calling for Bradford Council to make land specifically available for off-road riding and claims that he has already gathered in excess of 100 signatures.
The 22-year-old told the Bradford Argus & Telegraph that the entire biking community is being targeted because of an unruly minority, while local authorities continue to shut down off-road riding areas instead of making more available.

He explained: "It's just a sport at the end of the day and there are football pitches and tennis courts all over the district for people so why can't we have somewhere to practice too?
"I just wonder what they are trying to achieve because it's not as if people are going to sell their bikes, they'll just end up using them on the roads instead."
Mr Hinnells was particularly irritated at the recent closure of Woodhall Quarry near Calverley, where he had himself been practicing for a good decade until it too was targeted by the police.
Council senior policy officer Tommy Hughes promised that the issue would continue to be debated within the authority, but cautioned that along with the police it had a duty to clamp down on riders who threaten law-abiding local residents with their actions.
