Officers reiterate mini-moto threat
Police have once again warned that they will target anyone who uses a miniature motorbike illegally, after yet another seizure last week.
Officers in Burnley confiscated the scrambler bike from a 12-year-old boy caught riding it on land not designated for use of such vehicles and whose parents will now be required to pay to cover removal and storage fees, or else the bike will be destroyed.
Local police community support officer (PCSO) Michelle Edmonson said afterwards that while the force are not looking to ruin people's fun, there are legitimate safety concerns that have made seizures like this latest one necessary.

She explained: "Some of the people riding these bikes are very young and not all of them have the necessary safety equipment.
"No one wants to see a young person killed or seriously injured, so if you do have a motorised bike of any description make sure it's ridden legally and with the correct safety gear."
Her colleague PCSO Adam Clarke claimed that, given the numerous warnings issued about where miniature motorbikes can be used, those caught riding these machines on land where they are not permitted to can have no excuse.
This is just one example of the action being taken against these lawbreakers nationwide, with police over in Wakefield, Yorkshire, also participating last week in an initiative to stamp out illegal mini-moto use in the region.
