MAG gives government a piece of its mind
Representatives from the Motorcycle Action Group (MAG) were in Parliament recently to offer their opinions on the government's efforts to improve motorcycling in Britain.
MAG campaigns manager David Short was called forward by the House of Commons Transport Select Committee to present his organisation's analysis of the Department for Transport's motorcycle strategy and the effectiveness of its implementation.
He was rigorously questioned about the MAG's take on numerous issues related to motorcycling, including mini-motos, the use of bus lanes by bikers and the policing of Britain's roads.

Mr Short said afterwards: "This was indeed a most robust inquiry. It was a tremendous opportunity to put riders' rights at the heart of parliamentary debate.
"[Committee chair Gwyneth] Dunwoody and the panel were genuinely interested and seeking MAG's advice on issues of policy. I came away with the genuine impression that at last our voice is being heard and is being taken notice of."
The MAG feels that this event was indicative of the important position that it now holds on the British political scene, as a staunch defender of the nations motorcyclists whose suggestions are always taken extremely seriously.
This session was also attended by key figures from both the Motor Cycle Industry and the British Motorcyclists Federation and it will be followed up with another meeting of the committee next month.
