Motorbikes overtaking cars?
The Motor Cycle Industry (MCI) has hinted that new registration figures for motorcycles indicate a change in the transport preferences of many Britons.
There was a 7.8 per cent year-on-year increase in the number of two-wheelers registered in February, insidebikes.com reports, with motorbike sales up by 12 per cent over this period.
Early signs for March are even more promising, with a 15 per cent rise in sales anticipated as a result of the launch of the new 2007 registration plates this month.

This upturn in fortunes was in stark contrast with the car market, with data from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders revealing a 3.2 per cent fall in registrations during February, while March's sales are also expected to be down from last year.
MCI director of public affairs Craig Carey-Clinch commented: "Milder weather, manufacturer deals and the interest in a new registration plate could have contributed to this early increase in registrations.
"The car market has seen a drop this month in comparison with last year, so perhaps more people are actually recognising the benefits of motorcycling - a cheaper, congestion busting mode of transport."
Yet other indicators suggest the car has not had its day yet: a recent survey by the AA found that one in four motorists plan to buy a new one in 2007, compared to one in five last year.
