Capirossi hoping to repeat Spanish glory
Having disappointed in the MotoGP season's opening race in Qatar, Loris Capirossi is hoping to make amends by repeating last year's victory in Jerez.
Capirossi was in fifth spot after six laps of the Qatari GP when he suddenly crashed out of the race and ended up a reluctant spectator as Casey Stoner, his younger Ducati teammate, went on to clinch victory on his competitive debut for the manufacturer.
Yet the veteran rider has already put this setback behind him and is now looking ahead to Jerez, the Spanish circuit on which he marked the opening day of last season with a win and where he is hoping to repeat that trick this time around.

He commented: "It's a good track, nice to ride and very technical.
"To go quick you need a well-balanced bike and a good front end because you need confidence to attack the fast corners."
The Italian believes that his colleagues at Ducati have gathered data from tests carried out in Jerez that could prove hugely useful during the race itself, while he also feels that his bike is even better equipped to the course's conditions this time around.
Capirossi's record in Jerez is decidedly mixed: his victory there last year was just his fourth podium finish in 17 grand prix races on that circuit, including another win there in the 250cc class back in 1998.
