MCI says July will be 'the time' for motorcycling
National Motorcycle Week is taking place this summer and the Motor Cycle Industry (MCI) says that the emphasis will be on getting people to take up motorcycling now.
Running from July 15th to 21st, National Motorcycle Week is designed to promote motorbike usage and includes Ride to Work Day on the 18th, which will highlight the reductions in congestion, pollution, cost and inconvenience that motorcycling can bring.
This year the theme will be Now's the Time, with the aim of encouraging budding bikers to get their license now, as well as to try other things such as attending a motorbike race or riding to work.

The MCI explained: "This is because the industry aims to encourage more new people into motorcycling before new legislation is introduced in 2008.
"The new legislation will mean that people will have to complete more difficult tasks to pass their test, probably travel further to take their test and it will cost more in time and money to complete."
MCI director of public affairs Craig Carey-Clinch predicted recently that the take-up of motorcycling would increase ahead of the changes in legislation, as occurred prior to the last big change in the motorcycle test back in 1997.
Last year's National Motorcycle Week was branded a huge success by the MCI, while politicians from the All Party Parliamentary Motorcycling Group championed Ride to Work Day for highlighting the benefits that motorbikes can bring to the commuter.
