Pedrosa happy to keep making progress
Dani Pedrosa may have missed a chance to take his first MotoGP win of the season last weekend, but he was nonetheless happy to just keep the pressure on at the top.
The Honda rider began the Italian GP well and soon held the lead for a number of laps but was unable to stave off the challenge of Valentino Rossi, who went on to claim victory yet again on his home track.
Pedrosa was nonetheless able to retain second place, equalling his best performance of the season and despite once again being afflicted by some recurring problems, the youngster was on the whole satisfied with the final outcome.

He explained: "I could see that Valentino was getting away slowly but as I tried to speed up, I was getting slides from both wheels, so I couldn't push the tyres any harder and I had to close the throttle a little bit and settle for second.
"Still, this is a useful result for us and we were lucky it stayed dry today. The last race was also strong and now we have some good momentum going into my home race at Barcelona next weekend."
Tipped preseason by both Rossi and defending champion Nicky Hayden to be one of the stars of 2007, Pedrosa has certainly lived up to that billing so far this year and is currently third in the overall standings, 33 points behind leader Casey Stoner.
He will be hoping to reduce this deficit further in the forthcoming Catalan GP and erase the memory of last season's accident-strewn edition, in which he completed just 11 laps of the race.
