Motorcycling cuts commuting times for UK workers
Britain's commuters could considerably reduce their journey times if they were to switch to using a powered two-wheeler for transport, a new report has claimed.
In almost every region of the UK, people who go to work by motorcycle or scooter have lower journey times than their counterparts who travel by car or bus, with commutes far quicker in central London and the east of England in particular.
Yet despite this, just one per cent of Britain's workforce travel by motorbike, according to the RAC Foundation, which is urging employees affected by congestion to consider switching to an alternative mode of transport if possible.

Head of campaigns Sheila Rainger advised: "Commuting by motorcycle or scooter is a great way to beat the rush hour queues - but anyone thinking of changing to a motorcycle or scooter for their daily commute should take action now.
"It will soon become more difficult and more expensive to qualify for a full motorcycle licence - so beat the queues and take advantage of the summer months to get trained and qualified now before the new rules come into effect."
Motorcycling could prove especially attractive to the one in ten drivers identified as spending two hours on the road each day in a previous study by the Foundation, not to mention the minority of commuters who travel for three hours daily.
The British Motorcyclists Federation recently praised the positive effect that motorbikes have had in London since the introduction of the congestion charge, with spokesman Jeff Stone claiming that they both reduce traffic and actually make the roads safer.
