Donnington full of happy memories for Rossi
Valentino Rossi is hoping to usurp Casey Stoner with a win in the forthcoming British GP, on a track where he has historically been extremely difficult to beat.
Rossi has lived in the UK since 2000 and considers Donnington Park, where he has always received fervent support, to be like "a second home race", having notched up a number of memorable wins there, including his first in 500cc racing.
The Yamaha rider is presently in second place, 14 points behind current leader Stoner and Rossi expects the young Ducati rider and the equally youthful Dani Pedrosa to push him all the way this weekend.
He commented: "Even though it hasn't been one of his best tracks in the past, I am expecting Casey to be strong again and Dani won last year so we can expect him to be fighting too.

"Anyway, it's a great track, fun to ride, the straight is not too long and the fans there are wonderful, so I hope we can win again!"
It is unsurprising that Rossi is so fond of this particular circuit: he has recorded seven victories in 11 appearances on the track and has not missed out on the podium since failing to finish the 250cc race there back in 1998.
There will also be added incentive for the Italian in his country of residence, as a top seven finish will enable him to surpass Australian legend Mick Doohan's record for total points scored in premier class racing.
