Hayden hoping once more to bounce back

Nicky Hayden believes that new modifications made to his bike could help him re-find his form in the forthcoming British GP and revitalise his stuttering title defence.

Last year's MotoGP winner has endured a disappointing season so far but he has found new reason to be optimistic as he followed up another middling finish in the Catalan GP with an excellent performance on the same track in testing a few days later.

Boosted by an updated chassis, the Honda rider is now full of anticipation ahead of this weekend's race at Donnington Park, as he looks to improve on his current position of 11th in the overall standings.

Hayden revealed: "I can't wait to get on the track on Friday morning to find out if I made as much progress as I think I did on the Monday and Tuesday test in Spain.

"I really hope it will all carry over and that I haven't just been fooling myself - anyway, we'll find out soon! Plus I'm fully over my injuries from the Le Mans crash, so I feel ready to push really hard."

As for the Donnington track itself, Hayden is generally fond of it although he admitted that while he does really like the first half of the circuit, he finds the second part extremely tough, with the constant switching between hard braking and accelerating.

Perhaps this is why the American has never made the podium there in four attempts, with his best result to date on British soil remaining his fourth-placed finish back in 2004.
