Rossi recognises Stoner threat
Valentino Rossi is optimistic about his prospects ahead of this weekend's German GP, but he knows that he will once again face a real challenge in the shape of Casey Stoner.
Following his victory in the Dutch GP, Rossi heads to Germany full of optimism and claimed that, having only started in 11th place in Holland, a poor qualifying performance at Sachsenring would not deny him a shot at glory this time around either.
However, the Italian was less confident about the prospect of facing Stoner again and admitted that, with the young MotoGP frontrunner performing so consistently, eradicating his 21-point lead in the overall standings will not be easy.

Rossi explained: "We've got work to do still; we're not perfect yet, especially in the wet, but we're going in the right way and we'll keep pushing. We still have half the season left!"
Speaking about the Sachsenring track itself, the Yamaha man described it as something different, with a number of difficult, winding sections, but he was heartened by the high standard of performance shown by his bike on the circuit in the past.
His overall record in Germany is in fact stunning: eight podiums and five wins in 11 appearances there, including four top three finishes in five MotoGP races, whereas Stoner is relatively inexperienced on this track, having raced there just three times before.
