Agostini: Stoner class, but don't rule out Rossi
Motorcycling legend Giacomo Agostini has lauded MotoGP leader Casey Stoner's form this season, but he warned that Valentino Rossi is still in the reckoning for the title.
Stoner's win in the Czech GP lifted him 60 points clear at the top of the overall standings and while Agostini noted that his tyres and bike have played a major role in his success, he insisted that the Australian also deserves a great deal of credit.
Nonetheless, the Italian ex-champion told Motor Cycle News that his compatriot Rossi still has the quality to wrestle the title from the Ducati rider's grasp, although with only six races left, he recognises that it will be a tall order.
Agostini mused: "When Valentino Rossi has the package he can still win no problem.

"For me it's still open, but this year Valentino Rossi has one very strong rival in Casey Stoner. He has a big point lead, which with another one is possible, but with Casey Stoner it is very difficult."
The former MV Agusta and Yamaha rider certainly knows a thing or two about title races, having won a total of 15 championships in a career lasting from 1964 to 1977, including his famous final race victory over British star Mike Hailwood in 1967.
His homeland will host the next round of the MotoGP season as the Misano racetrack makes its first appearance on the motorcycling calendar since 1993 and Rossi will be keen to keep up his great record on Italian soil and grab a much-needed win.
