People riding through the Yorkshire Dales have been advised as to which parts of the countryside they can use, it has been reported.

The Northern Echo has stated that riders have been offered the Trail Riding in the Yorkshire Dales leaflet by the area's National Park Authority in order to help them enjoy their rights in a responsible manner.

It added that its publication follows the prosecution of a man by Skipton magistrates for violating on Blea Moor, near Ribblehead.

As a result, the unnamed biker may find his bike insurance compromised in the future, paying more for a deal due to this conviction.

According to National Park Authority spokesperson Matt Neale, the leaflet has been created in order "help minimise the effects on their sport on the wildlife, the landscape and other users".

He said: "The recreational use of motorbikes and other vehicles on certain routes within the national park is a very controversial issue that stirs up feelings on all sides."

Meanwhile, bike riders in Wiltshire have got together for a charity fundraiser, according to This Is Wiltshire.

Last month, 70 people took part in annual Swindon bike ride in order to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
