YouTube viewers 'to view HA road safety messages'
The Highways Agency (HA) has announced a new partnership in its attempts to reduce the number of young driver deaths on the road.
Until the end of the year the body will be broadcasting its campaign to motorists via YouTube - the popular online domain which allows viewers to watch both user and corporate made videos.
This comes as part of a road safety awareness drive which also sees the HA deliver its message on ITV's digital services.
"Using media which young people rely on themselves to communicate has got to be a good way to get these key safety messages across," remarked Bob Baldwin, area performance manager for the body in Cumbria and north Lancashire.
Motorbike Insurance - Great quotes!
It may be that if the action proves to be a success, bike insurance companies lower the prices of their policies for those aged between 17 and 25.
But over the last three years, there have been 44 deaths involving motorists of the age group in the Cumbria and Dumfries and Galloway region alone.
This comes as the HA has announced it is to issue Lancashire police officers digital cameras and satellite tracking technology in order to assist accident clean-up operations.
