A crushing defeat for problem bikes
People who cause a nuisance or disturb others with their wayward motorcycle riding have been warned that the vehicles could be crushed as part of a crackdown - potentially causing a costly motorcycle insurance claim.
The Herts advertiser reports that those motorbikes being used to anti-social effect are likely to be destroyed in the area - with officials already backing up their strong words by threatening to crush one that belonged to a 16-year-old driver.
In addition to motor menaces, also those which are being ridden illegally will find themselves in the firing line, say police.
Harpenden officers received complaints that the aforementioned youth was riding his bike outside of a school - despite having been warned about the behavior in the past.
Motorcycle Insurance - Great quotes!
It has now been seized - with a fine set in place and a deadline to make it before the bike is annihilated. It is not mentioned whether the rider even has motorcycle insurance in place.
Neighbourhood Sergeant Lewis Ducket states that the message is out there for others to see that action will be taken if the laws are flouted.
"This kind of behaviour has a big impact on the community's quality of life. We will not tolerate it and we will take robust action," he asserted to the publication.
Meanwhile, Bedford Today has reported that youngsters are to be given a safe and secure environment to enjoy their mini motorbikes at a new weekend club.
