Young drivers to be educated by fire service
The Fire & Rescue service in Wiltshire is to attempt to save lives by educating young people on the dangers of taking risks while driving, it has been reported.
Some 34 schools and colleges in the county will be invited to attend SafeDrive exhibitions, where officers will be showing films and distributing information warning against reckless road acts.
This does not just apply to people driving cars, as those on motorbikes are just as likely to be involved in accidents if they do not heed the rules of the highway.
In addition, they can also invalidate their bike insurance policies if they have an accident.
Motorcycle Insurance - Great quotes!
Grieving mother Clare Bixley, who son died in a traffic collision, has given her full support to the scheme.
She said: "SafeDrive is the most important project ever produced for young drivers and it's the only way to help change their attitude and ultimately, reduce the number of deaths involving young people on the roads."
This comes as figures from the Department for Transport show that there were 3,150 deaths on UK roads over the course of 2006.
