Somerset drivers receive vehicle crime warning
Somerset vehicle owners have been warned to make sure their vehicles are secure after a spate of incidents across the region.
The Avon and Somerset constabulary has reported that there have been 23 reported attempts to break into automobiles in the area since November 24th.
Such activity could have far-reaching effects on a driver's car, van or bike insurance policy, as it may be that the cover companies increase their prices as a result.
A number of factors could be attributed to this, including the firm viewing the motorist to be negligent and a hazard on the road, while they may also see the increased activity to be indicative of a dangerous area.
Motorcycle Insurance - Great quotes!
In order to curtail the incidents, motorists should look to park in well-lit and busy areas and ensure that whenever they leave their vehicles they are secure, with no valuable items that may attract a thief on display.
Meanwhile, statistics from the Home Office show that vehicle crime in the UK has fallen.
Figures from the government body show that the number of incidents has gone down by 51 per cent since 1997.
