Quarter of drivers 'at work during road accidents'
New statistics from a government body have outlined the dangers of driving for a living.
According to road safety charity Brake, Department for Transport figures show that some 6,662 people were seriously injured in crashes while on the clock last year.
Furthermore, some 858 drivers were killed in such collisions, the group adding that one in four deaths on the road involves an occupational motorist.
The findings are "shocking", commented head of education at Brake Jools Townsend.

Indeed, it may be that occupational drivers compromise their car or bike insurance policies as well as their lives by taking to the road for a living.
The official added that she would like to see employers take action against the problem.
"We're urging businesses to wake up to the need to manage and reduce risks faced by employees driving for work," she said.
Meanwhile, the road safety group recently set up a petition calling for the sentences for hit and run drivers to be increased.
The South Yorkshire Times reports that nearly 11,000 people signed in favour of larger penalties for offenders.
