Drink-drivers in sights of Mayport police
Mayport police officers are to crack down on drivers who take to the road inebriated, according to a local news source.
Times & Star reports that motorists have been told that officials will be operating in the region and breathalysing people when necessary by police constable Liz Hampson.
While 100 drivers were checked on Monday and Tuesday this week, none were found to be over the limit, it added.
However, if a motorist was to pick up a conviction on the road, it may result in them having difficulty when it comes to taking out a future car or bike insurance policy.

This is because some cover firms view such activity as indicative of dangerous road use.
"We catch those who break the law but the message about drink-driving gets out and people take notice," said PC Hampson.
According to statistics published by the Department for Transport, there are 3,000 serious collisions each year caused by people drinking and driving.
Last week, the body launched its annual appeal in order to reduce the number of incidents over the Christmas period, focusing primarily on 17 to 29-year-old males.
