Sussex Police campaign cuts road deaths
A road safety initiative run by police officers in Sussex has seen the number of deaths reported on the county's highways drop by half, it has been reported.
The BBC has stated that a 50 per cent decrease was recorded by officials over the course of December 2007, with six fatalities occurring compared to 12 from one year previous.
Bike insurance companies may now choose to act and cut the cost of policies for customers as a result.
This is because they could perceive the region to be safer than it was 12 months ago, reducing the need for expensive bills.

The statistics have "delighted" superintendent Paul Morrison, who pointed out that road safety was of great importance to the force.
He said: "There was a significant reduction in the number of people seriously injured or killed on the roads, which is a force priority."
This comes as new statistics from Northern Ireland show that highways safety in the region has improved.
Figures from 2007 indicate that the country enjoyed its lowest amount of record road deaths in 60 years.
