Scottish drink-driving figures show decrease
There were fewer people found driving over the drink-drive limit by officers in Scotland over this year's festive season, it has been revealed.
Midlothian Today states that 69 fewer drivers than were found inebriated at the wheel over the course of a similar programme at Christmas in 2006.
It added that officials caught a total of 839 motorists breaking the law in such a manner over a four-week period.
This may be good news for motorcycle riders, who may find that cover companies reduce the cost of bike insurance - considering alcohol-related accidents to be less of a risk in the region.
Motorcycle Insurance - Great quotes!
Local superintendent Pat Doherty believes it represents a "great success", the body states.
He said: "[Drivers] can now go about their business free of the danger presented by almost 400 risk-takers who seem to think it's okay to take chances with other people's safety."
This comes as the BBC has revealed the number of women caught breaking the law in such a fashion over the period.
It states that 100 of the 657 found above the limit in December were female.
