Motorists face disruption as storms hit Scotland
People in Scotland navigating the roads this week may have struggled in the face of harsh weather conditions, a national news provider reports.
According to the BBC, five lorries were toppled over on the M74 by winds which reached a high of 80 mph - causing a potentially dangerous obstacle for drivers to encounter.
Difficulties which also presented themselves included some 8,000 Argyll homes losing power while trees were uprooted.
Furthermore, the news source added that ferry and rail services experienced difficulties when the harsh conditions hit central, western and south Scotland.
Motorbike Insurance - Great quotes!
But motorists may now find that they have to claim on their car and bike insurance policies in order to have their vehicles repaired.
However, it could be that they receive larger cover bills in the future as some providers might look at the area as one of potential risk.
This comes as the Highways Agency has announced maintenance work on the Manor Farm underpass bridge on the A303.
Operations will commence on Saturday January 12th and are expected to be completed by January 25th so long as the weather holds out.
