Bus lane use sees drivers warned
Motorists found using bus lanes in Norwich during peak times were handed warnings from police in the area, it has been reported.
According to the Norwich Evening News, officials issued some 107 verbal warnings to drivers using such a stretch on Catton Grove Road during the morning rush hour.
Further punishment could have proved to be problematic for motorists, as a conviction behind the wheel can see people have difficulty picking up cheap car or bike insurance policies in the future.
This is because some cover firms view a driver with a history of poor behaviour as a risk to insure.

Sergeant Lucy Hayman told the news source that the bus lane rules are in place as a road calming measure as well as to protect bike riders.
"The restrictions are there to ease congestion, encourage people to consider using other forms of transport and to provide cyclists with a safer route. Drivers who routinely ignore the restrictions do so at their peril," commented the official.
Installing bus lanes in Richmond would kill local business, as drivers simply may not want to stop in the area in case they risk punishment, Richmond & Twickenham Times states.
