West Midlands officers catch 50 in drink-drive crackdown
Police in the West Midlands caught out motorists on the road despite being over the legal alcohol limit in a crackdown over Christmas, according to a local news source.
Some 50 drivers out of 400 assessed were found breaking the law and testing positively were mostly in their 30s, the Coventry Telegraph reports.
Motorists caught breaking the legal drink-drive limit could find that they invalidate their car or bike insurance policies at the same time.
This is because a number of cover firms may choose not to offer cheaper deals to drivers whose behaviour indicates that they are a potential road risk.

Meanwhile, former Coronation Street actor Chris Gascoyne has been hit with a ban from highways after being found driving while under the influence of alcohol.
The 39-year-old, who played Peter Barlow in the long-running soap, was caught by officers above the speed limit while returning home from a pantomime.
A one-year ban was issued to the Chorlton, Manchester resident.
The legal alcohol limit in the UK is 80 mg per 100 ml of blood in the system.
