Motorists' body calls for speed humps to be scrapped
A motoring group has called on roads officials to remove speed humps from UK highways.
The Association of British Drivers (ABD) has stated that the features are potentially dangerous for motorists, often causing more harm than good.
It may be that drivers who pass over them damage their vehicles, resulting in an expensive repair bill or a claim on a car or bike insurance policy.
This could also prove to be a problem in the future, as cover firms could consider such an incident indicative of a risky road user.

Nigel Humphries, spokesperson for the ABD, stated that the features often cause more harm than good.
"We [need] to get away from the simplistic notion that speed humps make roads safer, they do not, they often make them more dangerous," said the official.
This comes after the ABD last week called on the government to make use of the vehicles they seize from illegal drivers.
It would make more sense to sell them whole or in parts rather than scrap them, it claimed, as the money could be used to fund other projects.
