Make dogs wear seat belts
Motorcycle riders looking to preserve their motorbike insurance policy could find that they benefit from advice given to car drivers from a road safety group.
According to the Manchester Evening News, Drivesafe has told motorists to make sure they strap in animals whenever they can in order to avoid accidents.
These could be caused by stray vehicles distracting the driver or jumping into their laps should they become frightened, the news source adds.
Both instances could result in a motorist swerving on the road and colliding with a bike rider - resulting in an accident and a compromised bike insurance policy.

The group has advised people to consider dog crates, harnesses and pet carriers if they want to keep animals and themselves safe on highways.
"Drivers need to take responsibility for everyone and everything in their cars, including pets," said a spokeswoman for the group.
This comes during the week in which the seat belt celebrates its 25th anniversary of becoming a compulsory law.
Since its introduction in 1983, the rule has undergone numerous revisions and now all passengers are required to wear the harnesses at all times.
