Sheffield road projects readied after grants
Motorists in Sheffield could be set to benefit from a number of new safety campaigns and procedures after the city received close to £8 million in grants, a local news source has reported.
Officials in the area are to pump £4 million of a £11.2 million budget allocated to the city as well as Doncaster, Rotherham and Barnsley, the Sheffield Star states.
This is to be spent on schemes to reduce accidents in the region, including child safety zones, the source adds.

It may be that a reduction in danger in Sheffield results in cheaper car and bike insurance policies for people living there, as cover firms could use the decreased accidents rate as a good reason to lower prices.
Authorities are also set to spend £400,000 on pedestrian crossings across the city, potentially benefiting disabled people and pedestrians, it states.
This comes after 106 people in the city have signed a petition calling for such a structure to be added to Psalter Lane, the same news source comments.
According to Chris Venables from Nether Edge Neighbourhood Group, "there are a lot of schoolchildren and elderly people" who could benefit from this.
