Rescue firm warns of tyre risk

People travelling on roads in the UK have been warned to make sure that they check the condition of their tyres before they make trips, according to a breakdown firm.

Autonational Rescue has told motorists to check their wheels when heading out in wintry conditions, as doing so can prove to be "a life saver", reports the Bolton News.

It may be that by doing so, people find that they save on their car and bike insurance policies.

This is because some companies could charge more to people recently involved in accidents, viewing them as a threat to other road users.

According to Ronan Hart, marketing manager at the firm, motorists should be sure to pay the necessary attention to tyres.

He said: "They should be checked regularly for damage or any signs of wear and tear. It's not sufficient to give them an occasional kick to check pressure or a cursory glance at the tread."

This comes ahead of TyreSafe's BikeSafe road safety month initiative, in which the organisation is hoping to raise organisation among motorbike riders throughout March.
