Months of inconvenience 'likely in Southampton'

Motorbike riders in Southampton could find their journeys compromised by resurfacing work commissioned by local council officials, it has been reported.

According to the Basingstoke Gazette, the Millbrook roundabout project is set to commence in April and carry on in June.

But the work will affect First Avenue, Regents Park Road, Millbrook Road West and Terbourba Way, the news source added.

Being redirected onto unfamiliar roads could prove to be a problem for riders, who could find themselves compromising their bike insurance policies as a result.

Speaking for the Association of British Driver, Hugh Bladon comments that the timing of the decision is not the best.

He said that officials should have looked to carry out the work in March instead of later on in the year, adding that congestion will not be eased by staggering the work.

This comes as the Morpeth Herald reports similar maintenance taking place in Morpeth.

Road works will see Oldgate closed to motorists for the next two Sundays, the news source comments, meaning drivers will have to find an alternative route to their destinations.
