Traffic glitch delays road users in Wigan
Motorists in Wigan found themselves stuck on the road after a malfunction with traffic lights, it has been reported.
According to Wigan Today, the incident, which occurred at rush hour this morning, saw the drivers on Scot Lane held up in flow reduced to a crawl.
Those who were caught in the heavy volume of traffic may have acted irrationally in order to escape it, risking their car or bike insurance in the process by getting involved in an accident.

Department for Transport figures show that there were 3,150 people killed in incidents on the road over the course of 2006.
A spokesperson for the local council comments that there does seem to be "a problem" with the traffic lights.
The official said: "Greater Manchester Urban Traffic Control is looking into it...[it] has remote access to these lights and is attempting to find the problem and will report back in due course."
Last month, the same news source reported that further traffic trouble was expected after it was announced that three roads in the region are to close in order to accommodate underground repair work.
