Bird-watching drivers told to look away
Motorists who find themselves bird watching could be risking an accident, police in Scotland have warned.
Officers from the Dumfries and Galloway constabulary state that "the road is a dangerous environment" without being distracting by flocks of starlings in the sky.
The birds, which are part of the Muscicapoidea family with thrushes and flycatchers, are known for flying together in large groups and have been spotted above roads in north and west Gretna Green.
It may be that motorcycle riders who find themselves distracted become involved in an accident and as such risk their bike insurance policies.

Speaking on behalf of the force, a representative commented that motorists need to always pay attention to what is ahead of them.
"Drivers should focus on the roadway rather than on the large groups of starlings up in the sky," commented the spokesperson.
"If they want to watch the birds they should pull off onto a side road or into a lay-by," he added.
This comes as the BBC reports that a new campaign to help people with drinking problems has been rolled out across the region.
Motorists caught drinking and driving could find themselves subject to a ban from the road, a fine or even jail.
