Initiative tells rogue motorists stop means stop
Motorbike users who pass lollipop men and women without stopping have been told to curb their dangerous behaviour, it has been reported.
According to the Manchester Evening News (MEN), there were 50 motorists found doing this over the course of 2007.
It could be that such dangerous behaviour sees drivers pick up a motoring conviction, which could in turn result in an increased car insurance policy bill.
This is because some cover firms could view the activity to be indicative of a poor road user.
Greater Manchester Police will now be cracking down on those who endanger themselves, other road users and lollipop wardens.

"School crossing patrols have the legal power to stop traffic, and drivers who disobey them can be fined up to £1,000 plus a minimum of three penalty points on their driving licence," said a spokesman for the constabulary.
This follows another road safety initiative conducted in the north-west and reported by the MEN.
Earlier this month, the news source commented that Drivesafe had appealed to motorists carrying pets to make sure that they strapped their pets in should they carry them while driving.
The news source comments that Eastbourne Borough Council wants to bring in the charge due to increased trade on Sundays in the area.
