Bikers 'may not be aware of environmental implications'
Most road users are unaware of the damage they cause to the environment when they take to the road, new research has shown.
According to the Environmental Transport Association, almost two-thirds (65 per cent) of motorists do not know how much CO2 they emit when they are driving.
Ecological issues have been a hot topic in the media since former US vice-president Al Gore produced his documentary An Inconvenient Truth, highlighting the dangers the planet faces due to climate change.
Last year, the official staged the Live Earth concerts simultaneously across the world in an effort to raise awareness of the problem.

Those who do prove that they are cutting emissions could find that cover companies offer them cheaper car and bike insurance deals.
Environmental Transport Association group director Andrew Davis stated that the development of the issue could have left some motorists behind.
The official said: "A large proportion of people are aware that cars pollute, but may not know how to take the first step towards more environmentally-friendly driving."
Mr Davis added that "awareness of the CO2 produced by cars is incredibly low".
