Mobile use on roads 'still occurring'
Police officials in the Midlands have issued a fresh warning to those motorists who feel they can get away with using their mobile phones while behind the wheel, a local news source reports.
According to the Coventry Telegraph, officers in the region have handed out 140 fixed penalty notices per month over the last year - a total of 1,700.
This has come to frustrate the officials, according to a spokesperson for the constabulary.

"Motorists still flout the law and risk their own lives and also the lives of other road users by answering their phone or making calls while at the wheel," said the representative.
And it may be that such behaviour causes accidents which results in other road users compromising their car or bike insurance policies or having to pay out for repairs.
The news comes just over a year after the Department for Transport introduced increased regulation against the use of mobile phones behind the wheel.
A £60 fixed penalty notice in addition to a three-point licence penalty can be picked up if police officers catch people using a handset while in control of a vehicle.
