Inexperienced female motorists targeted in Highways Agency scheme
Officials at the Highways Agency are looking to raise awareness of road safety among female motorists in Lancashire as part of a new campaign, a local news source has reported.
According to This Is Lancashire, more than 2,000 copies of the Hi motoring publication from the body have been handed out at colleges in the region.
Women can read about how to stay safe on the road in the brightly-coloured, friendly magazine and perhaps save on their car or bike insurance at the same time.
This is because cover companies often charge less to those involved in fewer incidents, viewing them as representative of a smaller risk.

Highways Agency official Julie Smith commented that the magazine has been tailored to appeal specifically to women.
"The bright and bold and tongue-in-cheek style of Hi is designed to appeal to women drivers of all ages but younger drivers will find it especially useful," said the official.
Meanwhile, statistics from the Department for Transport show that fewer people were killed on the roads during 2006 than 2005.
In 2006, 3,150 Britons died on highways, compared to 3,201 a year earlier.
