Manchester drivers pay £150K parking bill per month
New figures have outlined the money made by Manchester City Council by parking charges, a news source in the area has reported.
According to the Manchester Evening News, parking devices in Manchester are expected to account for around £1.87 million-worth of council funds over the course of 2007 and 2008.
The news source added that the meters make in excess of £150,000 every month, which the council has told the publication it puts back into the public sphere with spending on local transports and amenities.

But it may be that the abolition of such charges could result in people having more money left over for their bike insurance policies and road tax bills.
And Sean Corker from the Association of British Drivers believes that the fees are typical of the UK's current lack of sentiment towards motorists.
"This is just part and parcel of the anti-car climate we see at the moment which has been going on for ten years," commented the official.
In Wales, health secretary Edwina Hart has announced plans to scrap parking fees at hospitals across the country.
