Extra funding to be used to tackle congestion
The Department for Transport has announced that extra funding is to be used in order to reduce the problem of congestion on roads in the UK.
According to the government body, it is to invest the £200 million per year Transport Innovation Fund into tackling the issue of overcrowded highways.
Motorists may find that they make fewer bike insurance claims should congestion be alleviated across the UK, as a smaller number of vehicles on the road could result in less accidents.

Transport minister Ruth Kelly states that the new measures will give drivers a more positive environment in which to drive.
Ms Kelly said: "The measures I've outlined today will tackle congestion in our towns, cities and on the motorways in a creative way which will be a win-win for the motorist."
And this comes after the official announced plans to open up the hard shoulder for motorists during busy times in another bid to cut congestion.
The minister revealed that when roads are particularly congested, highways such as the M1 and M6 would be available to travel along.
