Examiners' strike sees driving tests put on hold
Motorcycle riders looking to take their practical test in order to pick up their full licence may have to wait after examiners staged a strike on Friday, it has been reported.
According to the Scarborough Evening News, the one-day industrial action was organised by the Public and Commercial Services Union over a pay dispute.
Now those looking to be out on the road by now will have to wait to be legally allowed to do so, in addition to a delay when it comes to picking up road tax and motorcycle insurance.

However, a spokesman for the union hopes to get the matter resolved shortly, the news source added.
The official said: "Hopefully we can reach a negotiated outcome but if management is unwilling to negotiate there is a possibility we will have to arrange further strikes."
A motorbike driving test differs from a traditional car examination in that the assessor is not present in the vehicle.
Instead, the examiner watches and relays messages to the rider using a radio headset and marks general driving and manoeuvring skills.
