Drivers 'can pick up phone to appeal parking tickets'
People who pick up a parking ticket can contest the decision over the phone, it has been reported.
According to the Manchester Evening News, aggrieved motorists can appeal by picking up the phone, with six out of ten people reportedly being successful when attempting to have the decision overturned.
It may be that once the move is reversed, people find that their car or bike insurance policies are no longer compromised.

This is because some cover firms may judge motorists with a conviction as a risk on the roads.
Caroline Sheppard, Traffic Penalty Tribunal chief adjudicator, remarked that some drivers are not aware that they can appeal a parking ticket.
"It is important that people know that they have the right to appeal to an independent adjudicator if they want to continue to challenge a penalty after the council has rejected their case and says they should pay," commented the official.
This comes as new regulations brought in across the UK this week see rogue drivers pick up a £70 fine if they park illegally in a disabled bay.
