'£1.3 billion is cost of hit and run'
The amount of money being paid out by drivers whose vehicles are damaged in hit and run incidents has been revealed in new research, it has been reported.
According to the Daily Record, statistics from Autoglass show that some £1.3 billion per year is spent by motorists in order to repair damage caused by people colliding with automobiles and travelling on without leaving any car insurance details.
Figures from the body also show that 20 per cent of incidents occurred in residential streets and car parks, the news source added.

It may be that those whose vehicles are damaged in such a way find that car insurance companies charge more to cover their vehicle - seeing them as a potential road risk.
This comes as a recent report from the Thrifty Scot found that people looking to save money could consider simply using their vehicles less.
It may be that those who do so find that they are involved in fewer road accidents, making a smaller amount of claims on their car insurance policies as a result.
