Roundabouts 'often dodged by motorists'
Drivers will often do their best to ensure that they do not have to cross a roundabout, new research has found.
A study from IAM Motoring Trust has found that both inexperienced and experienced motorists skip the feature if they can find a way.
It may be because they are worried that they will invalidate their car or bike insurance policies should they become involved in an accident.
Cover companies could then judge them to be a risk on the road and increase costs as a result.

Observation is normally the key issue when approaching the traffic feature, according to tips issued by IAM.
"The single most common mistake at a roundabout is only looking to your right as you approach, because that is where you expect traffic to come from," the organisation commented.
Meanwhile, it has been reported that plans to spruce up a roundabout in Louth are said to be in jeopardy due to the local rabbit population.
According to Louth Today, an explosion in numbers means that the animals would likely eat flowers laid at roundabouts in the area.
