Speed fines 'total £700K in Sefton over five year period'
Speeding fines issued in Sefton over the past five years have resulted in motorists paying out nearly £700,000, a news source in the area has stated.
During the course of 2007, some £216,960 was received by authorities from drivers caught breaking the limit, according to the Southport Visiter.
This is an increase of more than 100 per cent in the amount reportedly paid by motorists over 2002 and 2003, the news source added.
Drivers who break the law in such a manner may find that they have trouble picking up cheap bike insurance policies, as cover firms could judge them to be a risk and increase costs.

"Speed cameras, or enforcement cameras, are provided at locations where there has been a history of recorded injury collisions caused by excess speed," Sefton council has stated on its website.
Meanwhile, it has been reported that authorities in Royston are to install six new state-of-the-art digital safety cameras in the region.
According to the Royston Crow, the devices will be installed on the duel carriageway of the A505 close to Baldock and Royston.
