Environmentally-friendly option 'considered by motorists'
A more environmentally-friendly vehicle would be sought by drivers in the UK if it there was a strong financial incentive, new research has found.
The study, conducted by price comparison website Tescocompare.com, has found that motorists are more inclined to go for a green vehicle if it is cheaper than their current model.
One in four stated that they would pick up an environmentally-friendly in the face of higher petrol prices and increased taxes.

However, the company added that typically an eco-friendly vehicle costs around £50 more to insure - meaning that even if a driver does switch to a greener vehicle they may have to pay more for car or bike insurance in the long run.
This comes as British group Radiohead recently attempted to reduce its carbon footprint by refusing to fly to the US for an appearance on chat show Late Night with Conan O'Brien.
Instead, the rock band were guests on the show through a satellite link-up from the UK, which means that the group saved on emissions by not taking a plane trip across the Atlantic.
